Martin Keown was shocked at how much Tottenham ended up signing Archie Gray for from Leeds United as the youngster has been questioned.
Archie Gray has certainly been thrown in at the deep end in the Premier League since his move from Leeds.
The 18-year-old has not only played the majority of Spurs’ Premier League games this season, but he has also done so playing out of position.
He has endured his early Tottenham career as a centre-back, as opposed to his normal position of central midfield.
Gray was booed by Brentford fans on the weekend, as a recent claim from Keown has added insult to injury for the youngster.

Martin Keown stunned at how much Archie Gray left Leeds United for
Despite his overwhelming start at Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou has raved about Gray, having done brilliantly in Spurs’ circumstances.
However, Keown wasn’t a fan of how much Tottenham actually paid for the youngster.
Speaking on talkSPORT with Jim White and Simon Jordan (February 3rd, 11:11 am), Keown made his feelings clear on Gray’s transfer fee.
“I think Archie Gray is an exceptional young talent,” Keown said.
“But £45m (Gray signed for £40m) as it was in the summer is a hell of a lot of money for someone who’s not necessarily going to start your season.”

Simon Jordan doesn’t think Gray can ‘operate’ for Tottenham
Daniel Farke wanted to keep Gray at Leeds along with many of the Whites’ supporters.
However, as soon as Tottenham came knocking, Gray’s mind was seemingly made up providing a real blow to the Leeds faithful.
Going by Keown’s claim, it’s slightly harsh to blame Spurs’ situation on Gray, who has ironically started most of Tottenham’s games this season.
Following on from Keown’s comment, Simon Jordan responded (11:11 am).
“If Tottenham want to bring in a £45m teenager that’s up to them,” Jordan said.
“The point is if you want to win something you’ve got to bring players in who are able to operate at the highest level.”
Gray has continued to prove his critics wrong, and Leeds fans will have no doubt he will continue on in this manner.
