Tottenham Hotspur secured a 2-0 win over Brentford away from home on Sunday afternoon in a match that saw Archie Gray shine for Spurs, despite being subjected to boos from home fans.
Archie Gray clocked up his 30th Tottenham outing on Sunday as injury-plagued Spurs made the short trip across the capital to face Thomas Frank’s Brentford. Despite the injuries, Tottenham secured a 2-0 victory.
Gray was subjected to playing in the middle of the defence once again. The England U21 has played all over for Spurs this season, after Daniel Farke used him as a right-back, midfielder and no.10 last term.
Most of his games and certainly, his starts, have come at centre-back. Ally McCoist said he feels sorry for Gray for having play at centre-back and it could have been altogether different for the Leeds product.

Gray booed by Brentford fans after near West London move
Back in the summer, it was initially believed that Thorp Arch product Gray was going to Brentford. But at the last minute, Gray had a change of heart and joined Spurs – a deal that actually benefitted Leeds.
While both clubs were willing to pay £40m for Gray, doing a deal with Spurs allowed Leeds to get a deal done for Joe Rodon. Gray was also the subject of talks with Aston Villa before Brentford and Tottenham.
But it appears Brentford fans have not forgotten that Gray chose Tottenham over Brentford. BBC Sport reporter Nizaar Kinsella said on X that Brentford fans were chanting at Gray after choosing Spurs.
He said: “Archie Gray being booed by Brentford supporters after Spurs hijacked their bid for the 18-year-old in the summer. Chants of “you should have signed for a big club” targeting the former Leeds man.”
Ange Postecoglou is in love with £40m Spurs man Archie Gray
Speaking at the start of the month after Tottenham’s first-leg Carabao Cup semi-final win over Liverpool, Postecoglou raved about Gray. He explained how he will be angry if he doesn’t have Gray at his disposal.
“I’m so happy they’re at our club and you know, in two or three years’ time, I just pray to God I’m the beneficiary of their talent, mate. If somebody else is getting it, I won’t be happy,” Postecoglou said.
Gray is making waves and becomes the latest example of the burgeoning talent not only in the Gray family, but off the Thorp Arch conveyor belt. Leeds of course, have another Gray coming through now.
