Manager eyed by Leeds United ready to take over from Daniel Farke immediately

Daniel Farke has somehow managed to rebuild his job security at Leeds United over the course of the last fortnight, when the German looked destined to be sacked by the 49ers.

Six defeats in seven games, the last of which was a 3-2 loss to Man City, saw Farke’s job in massive doubt. Reports from The Guardian said Farke had to get a result against Chelsea or Liverpool to save his job.

Well, he did just that. The second half against Man City gave Leeds momentum and Farke built on that, beating Chelsea and winning 3-1. Leeds would then secure a point against Liverpool that weekend.

The 49ers are spoilt for choice… but who would you pick as Leeds United’s next manager?

Both games came at Elland Road, but last time out, Leeds went to Brentford. One of the Premier League’s best home sides, against one of the worst away sides. However, Leeds secured a point, drawing 1-1.

Farke’s security as Leeds manager then, is intact once again. It comes after a few names were touted with the gig, including Ange Postecoglou, Brendan Rodgers – now set for Al-Qadsiyah – and Bo Svensson.

Danish manager Svensson was one of a few names said to be on the list at Elland Road. He has been out of work since leaving German side Union Berlin, joining the Bundesliga side as Brenden Aaronson left.

But with Farke winning five points in three games, Leeds won’t be appointing a new manager any time soon and certainly, a possible move to Yorkshire for Svensson is not currently on the cards at Elland Road.

Speaking to Bold however, Svensson says he is keen to return to management and would be happy to do so in the middle of the season, telling clubs he is ready to go immediately if required to join instantly.

“I’ve had some opportunities, but nothing that has led to a contract yet. I currently have nothing concrete. It’s certain I will be a football coach again. I have no restrictions in terms of which league I want to go to.

“Geography is not going to be decisive, he adds. My next job should be at a club where we are a good fit. Things should be agreed in advance. So yes, I need to do some thorough preparation before I sign.

“I don’t see any problem in taking on a job midway through a season. I’ve tried that before. But again, things have to fit together. The things we agree on in advance, all parties must live up to,” Svensson said.

How long does Daniel Farke now have at Leeds? 🔮

Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and others on Farke's position…

Gary Neville: “I don’t know how much attention we can pay to the rumours of the manager being close to the edge. That will have pulled him right back. If you’re in the boardroom, you’re thinking okay, let’s just hang back.”

Jamie Carragher: “Yes, brilliant management, but going to 3-5-2 doesn’t mean all Leeds problems are finished. They are going to lose games; they are going to find it difficult. They do not have the quality of the other teams.”

Chris Sutton: “Speculation surrounding him – I don’t know how true it is, but he was fighting for his job.“I thought that was deeply unfair because Leeds have been competitive. Really good at home. I’m really pleased for Daniel Farke.”

Conor Coady: “I never understood it, the last few weeks. He’s got a bit of stick and people have mentioned his job. I think he’s done a brilliant job.”

The seven clubs that have Bo Svensson on their radar

The report from Bold names seven clubs that have considered Svensson in recent history, and Leeds are one of them. Another is Daniel Farke’s old side Borussia Monchengladbach, in the top tier of Germany.

Wolfsburg, Belgian champions USG, Rapid Wien, Sparta Prague and Malmo are also said to have looked at Svensson as he waits patiently for his next role in management. But Svensson is yet to make a decision.

Perhaps, he is ready to make that move now, but from Leeds’ point of view, the 49ers won’t be thinking about a change for a while yet. Especially, if Farke can remain unbeaten against Palace and Sunderland.
