Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United looks to have become more secure, as one of the principal rivals for his job confirmed their next move.
The walls appeared to be closing in on Leeds manager Daniel Farke a little over a fortnight ago, as a poor run of form saw his side slide into the bottom three.
Reports ahead of Leeds’ game against Manchester City suggested that Farke would lose his job if Leeds fell to three defeats against City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
However, with the likes of Gary O’Neill and Brendan Rodgers waiting in the wings, Farke has lifted Leeds to five points from their last three games to kill off any speculation over his future.
Now, Farke’s position at Leeds appears to have become even more secure, as Rodgers looks set to accept a new managerial role in Saudi Arabia.
Leeds United-linked Brendan Rodgers set for new managerial role
Rodgers was believed to be a leading candidate to replace Farke if the German did leave Leeds, after the former Liverpool manager left his position with Celtic.
However, according to a report from TalkSport, Farke’s newfound security at Leeds has helped to force Rodgers’ hand, as he looks set to accept a role at Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia.
The report states: “[Rodgers] is en route to Saudi Arabia to finalise the move and will replace Michel Gonzalez, who was sacked on Sunday.”
Before continuing: “Rodgers was later linked with the Leeds United job alongside Ange Postecoglou, who left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. However, Daniel Farke has remained in the hot seat at Elland Road.”

Journalist Alex Crook went on to confirm that a lack of managerial vacancies in the Premier League had contributed to Rodgers’ decision.
“Saudi side Al-Qadsiah closing in on the [appointment] of Brendan Rodgers as their new manager,” Crook said, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, “Rodgers aware no Premier League vacancy on the horizon.”
Daniel Farke has earned his chance to lead Premier League survival bid
Farke’s days at Elland Road appeared numbered following Leeds’ defeat against Aston Villa, as the fans voiced their displeasure with the German manager.
However, four creditable performances and three positive results later, culminating in the battling draw with Brentford, Farke has earned the right to lead Leeds’ Premier League survival campaign.

Farke has addressed concerns over his adaptability by changing to a three-man defence with Leeds, and his substitutions have helped turn potential defeats against Liverpool and Brentford into valuable draws.
The 49ers may eventually decide that Farke has a ceiling in the Premier League and elect to make a change. However, he has shown that he deserves a chance to try and steer Leeds to survival this season.
