Leeds United made it 12 wins from the last 13 and went top of the Championship table on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Millwall – and Neil Harris admits that the Whites fully deserved to win the game.

Harris watched his side lose 2-0 with Willy Gnonto and Dan James on the score sheet – both goals laid on by Georginio Rutter. The Frenchman earned praise for his second assist, from Sky’s Jobi McAnuff.

Even then, he claims he did not play at his best – quite astounding. The win sees Leeds go top of the table in the Championship, level on points with Leicester. The Foxes in action in the FA Cup on Sunday.

But even then, Leeds sit a point ahead of Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich even after the 6-0 demolition of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Millwall’s Harris spoke to Sky Sports after the game, praising Leeds.

“First and foremost, Leeds really deserved to win the game. Let’s deal with that fact straight away. No complaints. We gave goals away at really poor times, when we were on top. Decision making was poor.”

Millwall boss Neil Harris makes Leeds claim after Sunday loss

A brilliant win, but as comfortable as it was impressive. Millwall had spells as Harris claims but they were never in control, or on top. Leeds had utter domination throughout and were well worth all three points.

Any worries that Leeds had peaked too early at the start of the year and might die off, are dying off. The Whites seem to just keep churning out performances and results in the race to go up automatically.

Next up is Watford after the international break but before then, many Leeds players are in action for their countries – not least, the Wales quartet taking on Finland in the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
