Leigh Bromby has hailed Joe Rodon’s performance for Leeds United last night as ‘excellent’ but believes there is one player who pipped him to ‘man of the match’.
Daniel Farke’s side ran out 1-0 winners over his former club Norwich City thanks to Patrick Bamford’s early goal, but it is the display of those at the other end which has drawn praise.
With the likes of Josh Sargent, Jonathan Rowe and Gabriel Sara, Norwich have some really dangerous players in attack that were kept quiet for much of the evening.
Having scored 12 goals so far this season, Rowe was very much the dangerman for Norwich but was kept quiet thanks to a top performance from Junior Firpo at left-back.
Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds after the match, Leigh Bromby believes Firpo was deserving of the man of match award just ahead of Rodon, though the entire back four was ‘excellent’.

He said: “He was excellent, he won all his headers and I think the only thing that pips him to man of the match is Firpo’s standards before.
“It was such a good performance from him [Firpo], but Joe sets such high standards that we’re probably missing it because we expect that from him. He was excellent tonight, clean sheet, all the back four were excellent.”
That type of performance from Rodon last night is something we have now become accustomed to since he joined from Tottenham. Week in, week out he proves he is too good for this division.
Firpo, meanwhile, had a frustrating first half of the season through injury but since getting a regular run in the side, has been getting better and better.
Four assists since the turn of the New Year is what everyone will be speaking about regarding the 27-year-old, but it was the other side of his game which should earn him praise, keeping quiet one of the best wingers in the league.
