Leeds United’s win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon saw Daniel Farke’s men climb to second that evening, and within just two points of leaders Sunderland.
However, Sheffield United retaliated on Sunday with a win over their local rivals Sheffield Wednesday. It sees Leeds return to third, two points behind Chris Wilder’s men and Sunderland who sit on 31 points.
Leeds boast the best home record in all four English leagues so far this season, and despite the injuries, look in a good position to go and mount a challenge on the race for promotion to the Premier League.
The Championship takes a break for a fortnight with the last international break of the year in progress, but Andy Hinchcliffe has weighed up whether he thinks Leeds will finish in the top two come next May.

Andy Hinchcliffe says if he thinks Leeds will finish in the top two
The issues Leeds have, is that they are still capable of the odd game where they fail to create chances away from home, at night. It happened numerous times last season, and did against when at Millwall.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on Tuesday morning (10.55AM), Hinchcliffe says he thinks Leeds will finish the season in the top two following their recovery win against QPR, after the 1-0 defeat to Millwall.
“That defeat to Millwall was their first for ten games, so again, they’ve been incredibly consistent. I do feel they will finish in the top two. When you lose any game, you want to respond, you want to bounce back.
“You want to win. I think playing QPR, the position they’re in, bottom of the table, low on confidence, is just the match you want at home, so it was no surprise to me that Leeds won that game,” Hinchcliffe said.

But there was also some Leeds criticism from Andy Hinchcliffe
While Leeds have nine clean sheets and only conceded nine goals, he was also critical of Leeds’ display at Millwall. Hinchcliffe has previously said Jayden Bogle was “all over the place” at Sheffield Wednesday.
Hinchcliffe though thinks that with all the injuries, Daniel Farke is doing a great job and highlighted praise for midfield duo Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell after they came in to replace Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev.
“I watched the Millwall game, they didn’t play particularly well. That’s the Championship. All you can do is respond. Sheffield United did it after losing a couple of game and Leeds did it after losing to Millwall.
“But the quality they’ve got in their squad and considering the injuries as well. Tanaka and Rothwell have been absolutely superb so Daniel Farke again is doing a brilliant job there and it was a great response.”
