Nat Phillips was one of Leeds United’s main targets in the summer but the Liverpool player moved to Celtic on loan for the first half of 2023-24 and now – he’s back at Anfield, but he set to leave again.
The Bolton-born defender managed just eight appearances while north of the border and now is back at Merseyside. But, he is lacking any real chance of a first-team breakthrough. His contract ends in 2025.
He will be desperate to show between now and next summer, when he is likely to become available, that he is capable of playing for a big side. To have any chance of doing so, Phillips needs to leave on loan.
Again, in order, to put himself in the shop window. Meanwhile, Leeds need a central defender. Charlie Cresswell is being linked with the exit door and Pascal Struijk is injured. Leeds eyed Phillips last summer.
A player that Daniel Farke has long admired, as per a report from Phil Hay. He was touted with a £10m move to Elland Road and you would imagine after struggling at Celtic, that that value may have reduced.

Now, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Ljinders was asked this week about the future of Phillips, with just over a week remaining in the January window. He confirmed that Phillips is more than likely to leave.
The Dutchman told Liverpool’s website that a loan is likely, for Phillips – as well as Calvin Ramsay, who is also on our radar. So, Phillips is up for grabs, Leeds need a centre-back, and Farke is an admirer of him.
Surely then, Leeds will be back in the market to sign the Liverpool defender in the final few days of the window if indeed, Farke is keen to bring in a central defender. He hinted as much on Tuesday afternoon.
