Leeds United remain in the hunt for a new left-back this month with two weeks of the window remaining.
Daniel Farke admitted as early as December that it would be a position Leeds look to strengthen, though due to the departures of Djed Spence and Luke Ayling, the other flank is also in need of additions.
So far, links to left-backs have been few and far between this month, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies, Hellas Verona’s Josh Doig and Rangers’ Borna Barisic mentioned as potential targets.
At this stage, all of those deals look difficult for Leeds to pull off, but one name that was put directly to Farke in his press conference last week was Luton Town’s Ryan Giles.
And now according to Team Talk, Leeds are reportedly ready to ‘challenge’ Cardiff City to the loan signing of Giles, with the Welsh side having been mentioned as a potential destination earlier in the week.
Leeds to ‘challenge’ for Luton’s Giles
Giles only signed for Premier League new boys Luton Town in the summer for £5 million but has struggled to make an impact, starting just five Premier League matches so far.
Including both Leeds and Cardiff, there are reportedly multiple Championship clubs keeping an eye on Giles’ situation this month, ahead of potentially pouncing if he is made available for loan.

As has been the case for a lot of players so far this month, though, Luton are reluctant to lose Giles as manager Rob Edwards does not want to weaken his squad in their quest for survival.
Leeds’ main focus so far during this transfer window has been the Premier League loan market, but it has been extremely slow to get going, in what has been the quietest window for some time.
However, Leeds are willing to be patient in order to secure their top targets and so it will be interesting to see if Giles is one that becomes available during the latter stages.
