Leeds United sealed the title in dramatic fashion against Plymouth Argyle, with a last gasp Manor Solomon winner taking the trophy back to West Yorkshire.

The Whites are absolutely breathtaking at their best, with Ali Maxwell outlining their absolute brilliance earlier in the week. The Premier League is now in mind for Leeds but the celebrations will continue into Monday’s open-top bus parade.

Leeds have Daniel Farke at the helm still, albeit his full-time reaction during the celebrations have raised some questions regarding his future at the club.

Leeds’ 100 points makes them centurions alongside Burnley. That is a remarkable achievement but is not the only record they have smashed on their way to promotion back to the Premier League at the second attempt.

Leeds United set new Championship late goals record

Leeds set a new club record for the most points in a single season for the first time in the club’s history, as well as a new record for wins (29) in the process. Not only that, but they won 190 points over the last two seasons in total.

A goal difference of +65 is bettered only by Reading FC’s efforts in 2005. Their 95 goals were a whopping 24 more than any other side all while maintaining the second-best defensive record in the league as well.

Leeds will also finish the season with the club’s highest goal difference in a single league season in the club’s history in the process. The previous best was +49 set in 1927/1928, and they smashed that. But none of those compare to the latest reveal.

Jonny Cooper of Opta has revealed that they scored 18 goals in the Championship in 2024/25 from the 86th minute onwards, which is the most of any side in a Championship season in the history of the competition.

Their relentless nature to find a way to win has been one of the most impressive aspects of their season, both from a technical perspective and a mental one.

A justified title heads to Leeds United over Burnley

It’s been fair to say for a while that James Trafford is the reason the points gap is as small as it is, more so than any other factor. Leeds’ undelrying metrics defensively are marginally better than Burnley’s this season.

For that reason, they will have been desperate to prove that they were the definitive best side in the division by doing so, but the data supports the idea that Leeds are far better than Burnley and one of the best Championship teams of all-time.

Leeds have been incredibly dominant between both boxes, and that they would have perhaps have broken Reading’s points record if Illan Meslier had been dropped sooner or if they had signed a replacement in January over either the Frenchman or Karl Darlow.
