Leeds United made contact to sign 20-year-old PL defender last month, he could be ideal Spence replacement

Leeds United’s decision to end Djed Spence’s loan early means they are now in the market for a new right-back.

To the surprise of Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds opted to cut short Spence’s time at Elland Road on Thursday night with Daniel Farke having explained the reasons behind the decision yesterday.

Given that he had been providing cover at left-back, and had just started for the first time in his natural position against West Brom, Leeds cannot afford to leave themselves in a weaker position come the end of the window.

Burnley’s Connor Roberts is a player who has been linked over the last couple of days, but there is another Premier League defender also said to be on Leeds’ radar.

Leeds are among a host of clubs who ‘made contact’ with Liverpool last month for their talented young right-back Conor Bradley, who is able to leave on loan, according to Team Talk.

Liverpool’s Bradley could be ideal Spence replacement

Bradley has been in and around the first team at Liverpool this season but has so far made just three appearances, none of which have come in the Premier League.

However, Bradley showed his potential during a loan spell at League One side Bolton Wanderers last term, as he was named their player of the season.

Clearly the step from Bolton to Liverpool is too steep at this moment, and so a loan spell to the Championship could well be the next logical step in his development.

Having started 14 of the last 16 league matches at right-back, Archie Gray appears very much to be Farke’s first choice at the moment, and so someone who could come in as rotation may be the sort of player Leeds look to bring in.

At just 20 he has already been capped 13 times at international level by Northern Ireland, and so he could be a real shrewd piece of business if Leeds try and get it done.
