Leeds United loanees Robin Koch and Max Wober went head-to-head against one another in the Bundesliga last night.
In the final game before Germany’s winter break, Koch’s Eintracht Frankfurt hosted Wober’s Borussia Monchengladbach, in what turned out to be an incredible game for both players.
It was Wober who threw the first punch as he netted the opening goal of the game just before the half-hour mark to put Gladbach in front, a lead which they kept all the way until second-half added time.
But Wober may feel a tad culpable for his side’s defeat after getting sent off in the 88th minute, with Frankfurt netting an equaliser in the 92nd minute through Aurelio Buta.
And then it was Koch’s turn to have the last laugh over his former Leeds teammate as he completed an incredible turnaround to score the winner in the 97th minute and earn Frankfurt three points.

After a couple of dodgy performances recently, Koch appears to be returning to form as he targets a place in Germany’s squad for next summer’s European Championships.
Koch had been expected to be called up in the November internationals but was forced to withdraw due to injury, which is said to have left him ‘inconsolable’.
He has taken a couple of weeks to return to the form he showed early on in his loan spell at Frankfurt, where he drew praise from director Markus Krosche for his impact on their defence.
Wober, meanwhile, has been solid for Gladbach since his loan move and could even end up signing permanently for them given how pleased they have been with his performances.
However, Wednesday night’s red card will no doubt have left him feeling at fault for his side’s defeat against Koch’s Frankfurt, and he will now have until the New Year to stew it over.
