It’s looking like a new era at Leeds United, and with a new expansion around the corner, it’s an exciting future.

Leeds can look forward to exciting plans on and off the pitch in the years to come under the ownership of the 49ers.

On the pitch, Daniel Farke’s side are gearing up for a Premier League return with £100m to spend this summer.

Whereas off the pitch, a 53,000 Elland Road expansion is in the works, eclipsing the current 37,792.

However, it isn’t all smooth sailing in the fanbase after a recent update, as fans have labelled it a ‘nightmare’.

Leeds United spot major problem with Elland Road expansion plans

It’s shaping up to be an exciting summer around the club, and fans have got a lot to look forward to.

There are bound to be at least four new arrivals through the door in a window with a major overhaul.

But in the long-term picture, much is being made about the plans around Elland Road’s expansion.

The Leeds City Council recently approved the project and have now detailed planning guidance for fans, taking into account the surrounding neighbourhood.

With many new ideas being presented, such as a tram system and a ‘yellow brick road’ route, there is one alarming factor that Whites fans have spotted, and they’re not happy.

@nowt_dr said on X: “The parking is going to be an absolute nightmare isn’t it. People aren’t going to use public transport all of a sudden. The car parks are always full.”

@TheJackyCalv agreed, saying: “Great, but where are we gonna park? Only one other solution, and we all know it’s the RedBull Monorail.”

@ZakLewis17 claimed: “No parking will be a nightmare.”

“No parking at all and no train route, good luck to all of us,” DannyCannan said.

@YorkieBarNone listed the problems: “A ‘nightmare vision’. Major venue. Zero parking. Planners are living on another planet.”

@BenYorkss took a dig at the City Council, saying: “Only LCC could improve the parking at Elland Road by completely eliminating parking.”

When Leeds’ Elland Road expansion will be finished

With this news potentially causing trouble in the fanbase, the council might want to think twice about the parking situation.

There have already been ‘concerns’ raised about Leeds’ expansion, and this might develop into a major issue.

Well, thankfully for the council, they’ve got plenty of time to resolve this error as it’s reported that work on constructing the new-look stand is not expected to begin until May 2026 and won’t be completed until late 2028.

As for the North Stand, work isn’t expected to be done until 2030, giving plenty of time for the council to assess the situation.
