With the future around Leeds United looking hopeful, Elland Road’s expansion has had further updates.

The 49ers seem to have exciting plans around Leeds in terms of Elland Road’s future.

It’s clear the stadium is in much need of progression, as there are stadium expansion plans at Leeds.

With it seemingly looking like the capacity would stand at around 53,000 in original plans, the club have now put forward plans to the Leeds City Council to see the expansion reach 56,500.

However, this might not come to fruition, as a new final number has emerged after the recent update.

New Elland Road capacity revealed for Leeds United

As excitement builds around the prospect of seeing the current capacity of 37,890 increased by any amount, the new idea does raise that bit more of a boost to fans.

The 49ers are clearly after the state-of-the-art stadium, but Fortress Elland already provides that with just the expansion needed.

It’s been assured that Leeds’ atmosphere will remain intact with the expansion after previous worries, but now there are questions surrounding what the capacity will actually be.

Well, according to Leeds Live, when the meeting on April 23 takes place, councillors will assess the plans, including the proposed expansion to the stadium, and even though it’s thought 56,500 will be the capacity, Leeds expect the final number to be around the original 53,000.

What Paraag Marathe has previously said on Leeds stadium expansion

The original number looks to be how the club sees the expansion going, and a few thousand less shouldn’t cause distress in the fanbase.

With Paraag Marathe and the 49ers at the heart of this, plenty will need to be taken into account, as it will be a major change around the club.

Marathe has always wanted Elland Road’s expansion and hasn’t been against the possibility.

Well, previously, the owner stated his intentions as Marathe expects a 47,000 capacity at first, which will eventually increase to the expected 53,000, as it looks to be a process that happens in phases.

The pieces are now being put together to make this happen, and the future looks to be an exciting one at Leeds.
