Leeds United could face old foe Frank Lampard in the New Year, he can do Daniel Farke a huge favour first

Leeds United and Daniel Farke could meet Frank Lampard in less than three months with the out-of-work manager in line to take over at one of The Whites’ Championship rivals.

Leeds currently sit in third place after Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United overtook The Whites into second place on Sunday, picking up a 1-0 win over rivals Sheffield Wednesday as Tyrese Campbell scored.

Despite Leeds boasting the best home record in England’s top-four leagues, Daniel Farke’s side are sat two points off the pace with Sunderland and now Sheffield United sitting in the top places on 31 points.

In the new year, they could face an old enemy. One that Leeds fans even have a song about, with Frank Lampard said to be the front runner to replace long-term manager Mark Robins over at Coventry City.

Frank Lampard is leading the race to take over at Coventry City

Lampard’s rivalry with Leeds stems from his time as Derby manager. The man involved with Spygate, Lampard recently said he was not that bothered by Marcelo Bielsa’s actions back in January 2019.

But Patrick Bamford recalls a different story, sharing how Lampard was fuming during a phone call held between the then-Derby manager and Bielsa. Now, he could face Leeds again in February 2025.

Leeds have already faced Coventry, beating the Sky Blues resoundingly 3-0 at Elland Road this season. They go to Coventry on February 8, with TalkSPORT saying Lampard is on pole to take over at Coventry.

How Lampard can help Leeds before facing Farke’s side…

Interestingly, Coventry take on two of Leeds’ promotion rivals next. Coventry are expected to appoint a new manager during the break and whoever takes over, likely to be Lampard, face Sheffield United first.

A side that are now two points ahead of The Whites in second, before Coventry then face Burnley a few days later. Scott Parker’s men are in fourth position, having beaten Swansea City over the weekend.

Leeds then, could possibly face Lampard in February but in a strange turn of events, the possibly new Coventry manager could actually do Leeds a favour by taking points off either Sheffield United or Burnley.
