Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday saw The Whites re-establish their lead at the top of the Championship table on Sunday afternoon, after two successive draws prior to the win.

Aside from the FA Cup win over Harrogate, Leeds had dropped four points against Blackburn and Hull City despite leading in both games in the latter stages of the games, but drawing them 1-1 and then 3-3.

On Sunday, Leeds secured a 3-0 win even if it was probably not as comfortable as the scoreline would suggest. Danny Rohl was proud of Wednesday’s display, having worried Leeds throughout the game.

Manor Solomon, Largie Ramazani and Ao Tanaka all got their names on the score sheet – three summer signings securing Leeds their 17th league win. Peter Lowy was in attendance at Elland Road on Sunday.

Peter Lowy spotted enjoying Elland Road outburst after fans left

Australian businessman Lowy has been on the board since 2021. Earning his billionaire reputation as joint chief executive of the Westfield Group until 2017, Lowy is a lifelong Leeds United supporter.

He is often seen in the directors box and Lowy was there on Sunday again. After fans left Elland Road on Sunday, BBC Radio Leeds presenter Jonathan Buchan says what Lowy did on the pitch following the win.

He said: “Leeds United Board Member Peter Lowy just came out into an empty Elland Road and gave a huge ‘whoop’ whilst pumping his fists in the air.”

Predicting Leeds United’s next three games – and three rivals

So, the win sees Leeds remain a point ahead of second-placed Sheffield United. Three ahead of Burnley who sit in third and then five more than Sunderland, after Sunderland and Burnley played out a 0-0 draw.

Chris Waddle has backed Leeds to finish in the top two this season, with 19 games left to play. The Whites are next in action on Wednesday night, when Daniel Farke’s old side Norwich come to Yorkshire.

Three tricky games for Leeds next, then. Norwich are capable of anything and boast the league’s best goalscorer in Borja Sainz, with the connection with Farke making it a difficult game to predict.

Leeds then face an almighty task of facing Burnley away from home. Scott Parker’s men are the only team to beat Leeds at Elland Road this season and the Whites will want revenge next weekend against Burnley.

Seven points from the next three would be a decent return, but Sheffield United have an easier run of games over the next fortnight. Maintaining this run of 10 games unbeaten is key for Leeds and Farke.
