Leeds United have been linked with a number of different Wales stars already this month and now, the latest to be touted is Chris Mepham – and a move could be a hint regarding Charlie Cresswell.
With Leeds boasting Dan James, Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon, links with a number of different Wales stars were inevitable. Neco Williams, David Brooks, Kieffer Moore and Connor Roberts have been linked.
Now, London-born 26-year-old Mepham is supposedly a target. Another Bournemouth player struggling to start under Andoni Iraola – but a bit of a surprise, given central defence is not an area we’re lacking in.
Leeds have Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk, Rodon and Cresswell. But the latter is emerging as a target for a number of clubs – in the form of Scottish side Rangers, and Middlesbrough, Ipswich and Sunderland.
Daniel Farke recently spoke about a potential move for Cresswell and made it clear that a decision would be down to the player himself – not the club. Carlton Palmer thinks Boro is his best move this month.

Leeds interest in Chris Mepham a sign Charlie Cresswell may go
Farke might not want to have got rid of Cresswell but surely, Leeds looking at a new centre-back signing can only mean one thing – and that is a replacement for Cresswell. Maybe, in the form of £12m Mepham.
It would be a super signing in terms of his quality, and the relationship he has with Joe Rodon in a Wales shirt. But right now, there is no room for Mepham in this Leeds side. We are well-stocked at the back.
Surely then, any interest in Mepham is a sign that Leeds are planning to let one of the four current options go – and the most-likely is Cresswell to leave on loan before the end of play this month.
