Leeds United took another huge step towards promotion to the Premier League on Friday night, beating Oxford United away from home.
Leeds United beat Oxford United 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium on Friday night, with Manor Solomon scoring the only goal of the game to leave Daniel Farke’s side with three wins from their last three.
Now with three games left to play, Leeds remain in 1st place of the Championship table and with a five point gap to Sheffield United in 3rd, who won at home to Cardiff City on Friday. Burnley meanwhile won away at Watford.
Friday’s performance certainly wasn’t a classic for Leeds. Several players struggled somewhat with Leeds United fans critical of Junior Firpo on the night. But on the whole, Leeds United never really looked like conceding against Gary Rowett’s side.
Leeds United can win promotion to the Premier League on Monday where they welcome Stoke City to Elland Road, whilst Burnley host Sheffield United in a blockbuster game.

Mateusz Klich and Larry Nance Jr speak out after Oxford United 0-1 Leeds United
Promotion to the Premier League would of course be huge for the Whites who this time round might have more money to spend under the 49ers, and more global reach too with their owners having welcomed in some celebrity endorsements, such as NBA player Larry Nance Jr.
The 32-year-old Atlanta Hawks player became a part owner of Leeds United in 2023 and after the game against Oxford United on Friday night, he simply posted on X: “#LUFC +3”. And he got a reply from Mateusz Klich, who now plays for Atlanta United in the MLS.
Klich posted on X in response to Nance Jr’s post: “Don’t forget to pick me up for going up party.”
Leeds United’s 19/20 record under Marcelo Bielsa vs 24/25 under Daniel Farke
Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion with Leeds United in 2020 was an unreal achievement, ending a 16 year hiatus from the Premier League.
It arguably gave Leeds United the platform they now have where they’re in a strong position to challenge for promotion after relegation. But this season Leeds have been much more formidable.
| Bielsa’s Leeds in 19/20 | Farke’s Leeds in 24/25 (so far) |
| 28 wins | 26 wins |
| 9 draws | 13 draws |
| 9 defeats | 4 defeats |
| 42 goal diff | 54 goal diff |
| 93 pts | 91 pts |
Leeds have the chance to eclipse that promotion season under Bielsa and doing so would be a huge achievement for Farke, who’d achieve a third career promotion from the Championship in the process.
The game against Stoke City kicks off at 3pm.
