Bayern Munich have reportedly softened their stance on allowing Leeds United target Alexander Nubel to leave on loan.
That is according to Sky in Germany, who report Stuttgart now have a very good chance of completing a deal with Bayern now seemingly open to a temporary move.
That said, Bayern are yet to respond to Stuttgart’s second loan bid of under £1 million, though their persistence is expected to be ‘rewarded’.
This will be another frustrating blow in Leeds’ hunt for a goalkeeper with the Whites reportedly willing to meet Bayern’s £6.8 million asking price for a permanent move.
However, due to Nubel’s reluctance to drop into the Championship, Leeds are yet to make an official offer, indicating they know a deal is increasingly unlikely.
Stuttgart now have a ‘very good chance’ of signing Leeds target Nubel
Nubel has looked as though he was one of two main targets for Leeds to strengthen between the sticks alongside Karl Darlow.
Amid this latest blow in their hopes to sign Nubel, they also appear to be second best in the race to sign Darlow, with Bournemouth currently the front runners.
Darlow held talks with Bournemouth on Wednesday with the Cherries now close to striking a deal with Newcastle, which could see the 32-year-old fly home early from the pre-season tour in the US.
At this stage Leeds’ contingency plans remain unclear, though it is believed to be a position of priority for Daniel Farke after the signing of Ethan Ampadu.
That said, Illan Meslier is now back in training for Leeds and while he is expected to leave, no bids have yet been received.
