Leeds United target Alexander Nubel does not want to play in the Championship next season.

That is according to Kicker, who report Nubel has told Leeds he would prefer to stay in the Bundesliga, handing Stuttgart the upper hand in the race for his signature.

It is said that Leeds would be willing to meet Bayern Munich’s asking price this summer to sign him on a permanent deal, which is what the German champions are keen on.

However, his desire to stay in the Bundesliga makes a deal difficult for Leeds, with Stuttgart keen on bringing him on loan with a potential option-to-buy next summer.

A decision could be made on his future as early as this weekend, with further talks scheduled in the coming days in order to reach a conclusion.

Nubel prefers Stuttgart move over Leeds switch

Daniel Farke is keen to add to his goalkeeping options this summer with Illan Meslier widely expected to depart, despite Leeds having yet to receive an offer.

If Leeds are able to somehow win the race for Nubel, it would represent a significant coup particularly in the with the former AS Monaco loanee racking up over 150 appearances in some of Europe’s top leagues and competitions.
