Everton are now reportedly ‘prepared to meet’ Leeds United’s asking price for Wilfried Gnonto.
That is according to Football Transfers, who report that a deal is now very much back on, but Leeds are continuing to ‘haggle’ over the fee.
It was reported by Sky Sports this morning that Everton had re-entered talks with Leeds over a deal for Gnonto after it had looked as though a move was all but off.
The Toffees had backed away from the deal after Gnonto was reintegrated back into the fold at Leeds by Daniel Farke following the submission of a transfer request.
Everton have been looking at potential alternatives, one of which includes Gnonto’s Leeds teammate Luis Sinisterra, but now have the 19-year-old firmly back in their sights.
Everton willing to meet Leeds’ Gnonto valuation
As per Sky Sports, Leeds have already rejected four offers from Everton for Gnonto so far this summer, the most recent of which was £25 million.
However, Everton are set to lose both Alex Iwobi and Demarai Gray, meaning a new winger is a possibility, despite having already signed Jack Harrison from Leeds.
It will undoubtedly take a serious offer for Leeds to consider selling Gnonto this late in the window, having maintained throughout the summer he is not for sale.
Gnonto still has four years left to run on his contract at Elland Road, of which does not include a relegation release clause, putting Leeds in a decent position.
If Leeds are going to sanction a sale, they need to do it in time so that an adequate replacement can be brought in.
