Despite Leeds having a squad settled in the Championship, improvements will still be needed if Daniel Farke’s side are going to compete in the Premier League.

Phillips now has plenty of Premier League experience, some good and some bad, but the midfielder has already shown his worth to the Whites in past top-flight seasons.

Ipswich had a solid weekend gaining a point at Aston Villa, with Phillips playing the full 90, and another former Leeds player who had a memorable weekend was Adam Forshaw who scored after nine years.

Phillips took to Instagram to praise Forshaw whose last goal came in 2016 for Middlesbrough, as the veteran midfielder scored in a 2-0 win for Blackburn Rovers against Plymouth Argyle.

“Love it Ads (With heart eyes emoji and love heart)” is what Phillips wrote underneath Forshaw’s heartfelt post.

Phillips has great admiration for former Leeds player Forshaw

The pairing endured five seasons together and it’s clear Phillips is an admirer of the 33-year-old.

Forshaw has had an excellent career in midfield and played a pivotal role in Leeds’ 18/19 play-offs campaign where they unfortunately lost out to Derby County.

Forshaw backed Leeds for promotion in the Championship as Phillips being a Leeds supporter will hope for the same.

When Forshaw left Leeds in July 2023, Phillips dubbed Forshaw a ‘legend’ in an Instagram story relating to his leaving post.

It’s safe to say he was a legend at Leeds, and Phillips’ reaction shows how close the two were at Elland Road.
