Joel Piroe sends warning to Sheffield United and Burnley as Leeds United’s promotion run-in begins

Joel Piroe seems fully invested in the Championship run-in, as there is plenty to expect from the next few months.

It’s too difficult to call at the moment who will be in the top two between Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Burnley.

All three managers will no doubt feel the pressure, as the first weekend back from the international break will be telling to how Daniel Farke’s side respond.

Leeds need to pick up their form after a few dismal showings before the break, even though Leeds are predicted to win the Championship.

Well there is clearly a winning atmosphere in the Whites camp, as Piroe has sent a message to their promotion rivals.

The striker himself has been in the headlines recently, as Piroe hinted at a return to PSV.

But no doubt, the 25-year-old will want to keep his head down and focus on his football and help Leeds achieve Premier league promotion.

This has been made clear in an interview with BBC Sport West Yorkshire, as Piroe sends a major warning to Chris Wilder and Scott Parker.

“They (Leeds squad) are very excited for it,” Piroe said.

“Of course we all know the position we’re in, everyone has tough schedules but everyone is looking forward to it.

“We want to get it done. Whatever it takes.”

Championship return will be crucial to Leeds in promotion

As previously mentioned, the return after the international break will be pivotal in knowing who’s in the right mindset.

Sheffield United set the standard on Friday night in a gruelling test against Coventry City where Frank Lampard could become Leeds’ friend.

Then Leeds and Burnley will follow up proceedings, with the Whites facing Swansea City and Parker’s side having a tricky visit from play-off chasing Bristol City.

This weekend already proves Leeds have the advantage, and Farke can’t use the excuse of an early kick-off time with the normal 3 pm slot returning.
