How Frank Lampard could become Leeds United’s friend in extraordinary fashion

From foe to friend, Frank Lampard can change Leeds United’s perspective of him if he completes this challenging task.

Everyone knows of Lampard and Leeds’ rivalry stemming from the 2018/19 season to now.

Leeds fans have loved winding Lampard up ever since the famous ‘Spygate’ incident with Marcelo Bielsa, as the former Leeds boss sent spies to watch Lampard’s Derby County side at a crucial time of the 18/19 campaign, with Derby prevailing against the Whites.

It doesn’t seem like a rivalry set to fizzle out anytime soon, especially after Lampard gave it back about Derby’s win to Leeds.

But, extraordinarily, Lampard can arguably play the most important role in Leeds’ season.

How Frank Lampard can become Leeds United’s friend

Lampard won’t be too fussed about the friendship with Leeds but more for his Coventry City side who are doing well in the Championship.

The former Chelsea man did put rivalry aside with Lampard saying Leeds are ‘really good’ and you’d think Whites fans should return the favour after the Sky Blues have won eight of their last nine games.

Well, they will definitely want to heap praise on their nemesis if he continues this form at Coventry.

Lampard’s side face three of Leeds’ promotion rivals in their next five games, as the Whites’ hatred of the Coventry boss may turn into admiration if he manages to win all three games.

Coventry and Lampard could join Daniel Farke’s Leeds United in the Premier League

Aside from Leeds, the only other more in-form team at the moment is Coventry, and by doing this, Lampard will benefit both sides.

Lampard refused talks about his gestures to Leeds, but there could be plenty more where that came from next season.

Coventry now find themselves in the promotion picture out of nowhere, and by stopping Leeds’ rivals in the coming weeks, it won’t only pretty much guarantee promotion for Leeds, but the Sky Blues will look a real threat going into the playoffs.

Expect fireworks with eleven games left of the Championship season, as Lampard could be Leeds’ saviour, but the bitter rivals could also meet again next season, this time in the Premier League.
