Daniel Farke guided Leeds United to the Championship play-off final last season but after defeat, is looking to go one better this season and get The Whites back to the Premier League.
Leeds currently sit in third place, three places higher than last season after 10 Championship games. The Yorkshire outfit are three points better off despite losing Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter.
Scoring 17 goals in their 10 Championship games, Leeds have kept an impressive six clean sheets and have only conceded seven times. A goal difference of five better than this time last season, letting in 10.
Leeds look in a solid position ahead of Tuesday night’s clash against Watford, the sixth of the other seven top-eight sides Leeds have already faced this term. But is Daniel Farke the right man for the Leeds job?
Jermaine Pennant says Daniel Farke is “perfect” for Leeds role
Farke has come in for criticism and praise in equal measure during his time as Leeds manager. Many questioned how he did not get Leeds promoted last season, but The Whites still amassed 90 points.
Indeed, becoming the first team in the Championship to reach such a total without being promoted. His work in the transfer window has been excellent and Pennant thinks he is the ideal man for the job.
At the Copa del Cure Leukaemia tournament, Pennant told Yahoo Sport: “He knows how to get out of that league, he’s done it many times with Norwich so he’s probably the perfect person and fit for Leeds.
“They’ve had a few injuries but that league is so gruelling that you can be nowhere after 20 games and all of a sudden go on a run and be second in the league,” Pennant continued in his verdict regarding Farke.
Why Leeds will fare better in the Premier League than Norwich
Farke is a proven Championship winner, having won the division twice in his four-year stint with Norwich. But his record at Carrow Road while in the Premier League was shocking; relegated once, sacked once.

But Pennant is confident that Leeds would be better under Farke in the Premier League, if Leeds go up, despite his form at Norwich: “Leeds are better suited if they do go up to stay in the Premier League.
“Norwich weren’t Premier League ready whereas Leeds are a Premier League giant, so I’m sure if they do get back up they will learn from their mistakes and hopefully stay there,” Pennant continued on Farke.
