Leeds United have a few players in excellent form already at this early stage in the Championship season, with Leeds already eclipsing their form after 10 games last season.
Daniel Farke’s side are three points better off than last season, and three places in the league table. The Whites currently sit in third, as they prepare to face a sixth side of the other seven in the top eight places.
Joel Piroe has four goals even if he has only started three of the 10 Championship matches played so far. Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Illan Meslier, Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo have helped keep six clean sheets.
Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell are starring together in midfield, while Largie Ramazani has come in and he has two goals. Mateo Joseph has five goals and assists in his 10 Championship games, starting eight.
Wilfried Gnonto is on fire, but he’s not happy with Leeds form
The Italy star has been awarded Leeds‘ September Player of the Month, having had a hand in four goals in four games before the win over Sheffield United. He has six goals and assists in his 10 outings this season.
Indeed, Gnonto has also starred for Italy’s U21 side after signing a new deal at Leeds in the summer. On Friday night, Gnonto picked up a shoulder knock but boss Farke said it is only bruising and Gnonto is fine.
Speaking to Leeds United’s website after picking up the award, Gnonto said he is not happy with his form despite the numbers: “I wouldn’t say I’m satisfied, because I know that I can improve even more.
“It’s been a good start, but at the same time, I’m far from where I want to be. I practice every day for this, I know that my job is not done. I’ve many goals for the season, and hopefully I’m gonna reach them all.”

It is incredible to think that Gnonto is still only 21. Joining from Zurich as a teenager, Gnonto is already one of the longest-serving players at Elland Road and as he takes on the mantle of main-man in attack.

In his first season, in the Premier League, it took Gnonto 17 more games than he has this term to get to eight goals and assists. Last season, he got 12 in total having played four times what he’s already played.
This season, he is halfway in terms of goal involvements to what he did last season in just a quarter of the matches. Hopefully on Tuesday night, for Leeds fans and for Gnonto, he can increase his numbers again.
