Back in the summer, there was so much talk about Daniel Farke’s future as Leeds United manager despite the German gaffer guiding Leeds to the Championship title with a record tally of points.
Leeds had never managed to reach a century of points in one season, but they managed it in 2024-25 as Manor Solomon coolly slotted an injury-time winner to beat Plymouth and secure the Championship title.
Immediately after promotion was secured, pundits questioned Farke’s future. His six Premier League wins in 49 at Norwich were a concern for those of a Leeds persuasion. Paraag Marathe backed his manager.
According to Richard Keys, only after Jose Mourinho rejected Leeds. Mourinho is now at Benfica, while Leeds held preliminary talks with Roger Schmidt, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Davide Ancelotti.

Jamie O’Hara makes his own Daniel Farke prediction look silly
Among the pundits calling for Leeds to consider Farke’s future was O’Hara. He claimed in April that, like some players, there are some managers good enough for the Championship, but not the Premier League.
Speaking to TalkSPORT little under six months later, O’Hara said on Saturday evening that he thought Farke would be among the favourites to be sacked, but that he “definitely” won’t lose the Leeds job now.

“Listen, fairplay, you fully deserved the win,” O’Hara said, when discussing Leeds and Farke to an Elland Road supporter. “You were the way better side. Daniel Farke has started the season well,” O’Hara added.
“There were question marks over him,” the TalkSPORT presenter said. “I think he was probably up there among the favourites to get sacked, early doors. But that’s definitely not going to be the case, now.”
What does Daniel Farke’s future look like at Leeds United?
Farke has now managed a total of 110 games in all competitions for Leeds, winning a total of 63 having joined the club in the summer of 2023. At the time, he signed a four-year deal with the Elland Road club.
It means Farke now has two years remaining on his contract at Elland Road. But it is easy to imagine a new deal coming Farke’s way, if Leeds can survive in the Premier League come the end of the season.
One criticism levelled at Farke in the Championship was a lack of tactical flexibility. But promotion has seen Farke tweak the system, bring in new players for different games. Right now, he is doing a good job.
