Leeds United’s most recent signing before Newcastle United come to Elland Road is that of James Justin on a four-year contract from Leicester City.

A two-sided full-back, James Justin became the 10th signing of the Leeds United transfer window. To seal the deal, Leeds have agreed an initial £8 million deal for Justin, with add-ons of £2 million to Leicester in total.

Justin is Leeds landing a target who has been on the list for many weeks now. Leeds United News exclusively revealed that information regarding Justin a month ago, and we then outlined that Justin’s mentality is to become a Leeds starter.

Signing Justin means Leeds have spent over £100 million. He will push Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson for starts on both flanks, which allowed Isaac Schmidt to join Werder Bremen.

James Justin’s Leeds shirt number revealed

Jeff Stelling likes Leeds’ latest signing in Justin, albeit he is imploring the Whites to sign more differentials at the top of the pitch to give Leeds a strong enough attack.

Justin already thinks Leeds fans are the best in the world and he is saying all the right things after signing, while Daniel Farke has also commented on Justin ahead of his side hosting Newcastle United.

“James Justin is a proven Premier League player. He is capped for England. What I like is that he is flexible; he can play right-back or left-back. An all-round full-back, he adds goals and assists, good at defending.

“A top-class character and a top age. We are pretty pleased to have this proven player. He will be an important teammate. Whoever delivers will play. I’m glad we have more quality competition right now.”

Now, the latest development ahead of the game is that Justin has chosen his shirt number. As shown on the Leeds United website, Justin will wear the number 24 shirt for Leeds.

At senior level, he has only worn two, three, and 36 for the likes of England, Luton Town, and Leicester. It’s a new number for the 27-year-old and has been vacant since Georginio Rutter joined Brighton.

Prior to that, Leif Davis and Hadi Sacko were the most recent players to have 24. Tom Adeyemi, Marius Zaliukas, and Chris Dawson have all had it over the last decade or so, too.

The height of each Leeds signing after James Justin’s arrival

Leeds’ team is significantly taller than last season and Justin has only added to that further, with the Englishman standing at 6’0″, making him the second-shortest signing.

It’s possible that Gabriel Gudmundsson will not be the smallest addition, but Leeds’ strategy is abundantly clear when viewing the signings as clearly as the above.
