Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol has explained why he is not happy with his side’s point against Manchester United.

Daniel Farke and his Leeds side took another step towards securing their Premier League status as they held Manchester United at Elland Road.

However, there was a lingering sense of what could have been for Leeds after the game, as they quickly surrendered the lead handed to them by the impressive Brenden Aaronson.

The Whites moved eight points clear of the Premier League relegation places with their draw and extended their impressive unbeaten run to seven games in the process.

But, according to defender Jaka Bijol, this is just the start for Farke’s ambitious squad, as they look to move away from the bottom three.

Leeds United defender Jaka Bijol not happy with Man United draw

Speaking to LUTV immediately after Leeds’ draw against Manchester United, Bijol explained why there is a buoyant mood within the camp.

According to Bijol, although the players are not happy with the manner of Man Utd’s equaliser, there is a sense of excitement over what Leeds can achieve with a fully fit squad.

Asked if Leeds were moving in the right direction, Bijol said: “I would say so for sure. Today, we also missed some key players for us; it’s a big one as well for sure.

“I think we showed again that we can compete against everyone. So when we are fully fit and 100% healthy, I think we can play really hard football against everyone and hope to win at the end.

“If we can continue to show these performances, to improve the performances, I think we will have a good season ahead.”

However, there was also a sense of frustration at full-time, as he added: “I think we are not satisfied with this draw today. I think we wanted to win.”

Jaka Bijol is becoming a leader at the back under Daniel Farke

Bijol was made to wait for his chance at Elland Road after joining Leeds from Udinese in the summer transfer window.

However, the Slovenian has arguably been the biggest beneficiary of Leeds’ switch to a back three, and he is now showing why Farke was so keen to bring him to the club.

Realistically, how long can Leeds United’s unbeaten run go on for?

The stats from FotMob show just how important Bijol was against Man United, as he made eight clearances, won five duels and made five recoveries.

With Leeds’ defensive leader, Joe Rodon, missing through injury, Bijol has stepped up to show his true class at the heart of Leeds’ back three.
