Wilfried Gnonto has suffered a setback during international duty but Leeds United fans will be intrigued to know how he got on prior to his injury.
In unfortunate circumstances, Leeds winger Gnonto got injured for Italy, as the under-21s also ended up losing 2-1 to the Netherlands.
It’s already been a difficult season for Gnonto at Leeds who certainly hasn’t had the game time he expected.
Daniel Farke hasn’t exactly helped Gnonto improve this season with very limited minutes off the bench.
Even though it’s hard to judge the 21-year-old from just 45 minutes, an Italian media outlet made their verdict clear on Gnonto’s first-half performance.

Gnonto has of course appeared for the senior Italy squad but due to Farke’s choices this season, the winger has to settle for under-21 level.
No doubt it’s still a great experience for the young Leeds star who is still learning his way through the game.
Gnonto’s Leeds future is in doubt and will need to either convince Farke to include him in his plans or, tempt other clubs to circle for his transfer.
Well, against the Netherlands it’s clear neither of these would be considered, as SPORTface.it gave their honest view of Gnonto’s performance.
The outlet gave Gnonto a rating of 5/10, which happened to be the lowest among any of his teammates, even in a loss.
In the report, it read: “(Gnonto) Wastes two chances. Without Pio Esposito, Italy fails to pass the test of concreteness in front of goal. He leaves the pitch at the end of the first half due to injury.”
Gnonto should potentially seek a loan away from Leeds United
With the injury concern rising for the Italian, it could turn out to be unlikely that the winger sees much more game time this season.
This will ultimately leave Gnonto with a big decision in the summer, as a permanent exit could be on the cards.
However, being only 21, Gnonto still has a chance at Leeds, as Farke suggests Gnonto is only lacking end product which is the key reason why he doesn’t see the starting lineup often.
To find that end product may leave Gnonto hoping for a loan move which could really help the youngster’s future with the Whites excell.
It’s certainly going to be something on the radar for Gnonto, as he waits for his injury verdict.
