Mateo Joseph will be hoping to make a serious impression on Daniel Farke in this international break.

It’s been a difficult season for the Spaniard who has been behind Joel Piroe in the Leeds United pecking order all campaign.

The 21-year-old hasn’t had a glittering season but is no doubt still learning his trade in Farke’s side.

Now away with Spain, Joseph can prove to the Leeds boss what he’s missing out on.

Joseph has trained with the senior Spain squad but left an impression on the under-21s side.

What Spain fans said about Leeds United star Mateo Joseph

With the striker enjoying his time with his nation, it may lead Joseph to want a move back to his home country, as Joseph was keen on a Spain return.

This is highly possible in the summer after Betis offered £10m for Joseph in January, but for now, he remains at Leeds.

Judging by his performance on Friday night for the Spain under-21s against the Czech Republic, Farke may want to consider his stance on the striker.

In a 2-2 draw, Joseph linked up with Valencia’s Javi Guerra to score the opener in a 2-2 draw with the Czech.

This lead to Spanish fans lauding the Leeds striker as Farke may be intrigued by the reaction.

@AficionDeporte summed up Joseph’s form for the under-21s saying: “7 goals in 8 matches with the U-21 for Mateo (fire emoji).”

@futuroatleti said: “Mateo has little things I like”.

With Betis’ bid considered, a fan from another La Liga club mooted Joseph with a move, as @PabloooPerezz suggested: “Mateo Joseph has to be Celta’s (Vigo) number 9.”

@toninavarrojuar was in awe of the striker’s finishing: “Mateo Joseph, what a killer.”

@mfutbolspain explained: “Mateo Joseph has been at his best, scoring another goal for the U21s, and has had a few more to put the difference on the scoreboard.”

@aandreamorales7 briefly said: “How good is Joseph?”

Joseph makes a real statement to Farke at Leeds

With Leeds’ rocky form, surely Farke has to look into experimenting with the run-in heating up in the Championship.

Piroe has been excellent this season, but Joseph has shown when given the start he can perform.

The clear factor is the difference in level at under-21 record, but Joseph’s record for Spain makes for good viewing and despite his shortcomings at Leeds, his goal on Friday will boost his confidence.

All Joseph wants is the Premier League for Leeds, and Farke should give him the chance to contribute.
