Georginio Rutter is earning plenty of praise once again after he scored a sensational goal for Leeds United on Wednesday night, and Dan James has described the Frenchman’s strike as “incredible”.
Coming into the game, Rutter has come off the back of a couple of frustrating weeks. Called up by the France U21’s, he only managed one sub outing in the two games during the break, under Thierry Henry.
He returned with an abdominal injury, and looked as though he was not 100% at Rotherham – lasting 70 minutes. But, ahead of Swansea, Daniel Farke said that Rutter was back to 100% fitness. It looked it.
His goal was incredible. Paul Merson said it was “absolutely outstanding”. Ethan Ampadu’s pass was nice, but there was still a lot to do. The ball coming over his shoulder, Rutter killed it dead with his left.

A second touch to get the ball out of his feet and away from the pressure of Bashir Humphreys, but remaining cool to plant a third touch – past Carl Rushworth. A gorgeous goal, and James praised him.
“It was nice to score one before half time. Georgi has brought it out the sky, incredible finish, nice ball from Ethan and then he’s finished it nice. We went into the half at 2-1. We could’ve scored a few more.”
Georginio Rutter praised by Leeds United teammate Dan James
Rutter has been fantastic. The heartbeat of this Leeds side and arguably, the best player in the League at this stage – although, Cree Summerville might have something to say about that. He got an assist.
As did Rutter. If Leeds are going to do anything this season, then keeping Rutter fit is absolutely pivotal. Proven by our struggling display against Rotherham – with Rutter clearly not his 100% self. Incredible.
