Leeds United already have three players who have hit double figures for goals this season.
Despite a mini goal drought by his standards, Crysencio Summerville is already on 12, while Dan James and Joel Piroe have both found the net on 10 occasions respectively.
Leeds have goals coming from across there front line but with Piroe having been dropped to the bench in recent weeks, there is a new man making a resurgence in front of goal.
Having not started a single game until New Year’s Day, Patrick Bamford’s goal against Birmingham City was his first since April. However, as is often the case with him, he is now on a roll.
Bamford’s winner last night made it three goals in four Championship matches and speaking on BBC Radio Leeds after the match, Leigh Bromby believes Leeds will get promoted if he hits double figures.
Bromby says Bamford goals could be key for Leeds
He said: “It’s a top finish by a player that does score a lot of goals, fingers crossed he gets a lot now until the end of the season because that’s what Leeds need. It’s a fantastic cross from Dan James, really high quality and that’s what wins the game.
“That’s what Leeds have in the squad… across those positions you have to hit a certain amount of goals and that’s what Leeds are doing. If Bamford can hit double figures they will get promoted. Probably. Leeds will be in with a shout of being promoted.”
Bamford may have been frustrated at missing a couple of chances in the second half but his header, which ultimately separated the two sides, was top class.
It is evident in his all round game that Bamford is playing with a lot of confidence and following his ‘magnificent’ goal against Peterborough United, it is hard for him not to be.
Bamford offers something different to all of Leeds’ attacking players with his movement in behind but his goals may just be what fires the Whites back to promotion.
