Crysencio Summerville has revealed he chose to stay at Leeds United in the summer after speaking with his agent and deciding it was crucial for him to be playing every week.

Summerville watched on as he saw several teammates from last season’s squad depart Elland Road in their numbers, some less amicably than others.

Eight senior members of the first team decided to utilise the loan clause that became active after relegation, while others, including Tyler Adams, left permanently.

Speaking in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, Summerville opted to ignore what was going on around him and made his decision with the help of his agent, and several other people.

He said: “I spoke with many people, also my agent, and we made a decision. For me I think it was very important to play, to enjoy myself and show my best version so it was good to stay with Leeds.”

Summerville decision paying off

Summerville undoubtedly has ambitions of playing Premier League football, but was one of few who recognised that coming back to go forward could be beneficial.

The 22-year-old is now arguably Leeds‘ best and most important player, something which he is clearly thriving upon given his return of eight goals and six assists already.

Sky Sports pundit and Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney believes it may be difficult for Leeds to keep hold of Summerville in January due to how good he has been, but Summerville will surely now want to see the season out.

Summerville scooped up every single individual award in the Championship for the month of October, with his form just getting better by the week.

Fabrizio Romano says Summerville turned down interest from several Premier League clubs in the summer and so hopefully he can be the man who leads Leeds back there.
