Don Goodman does not see the current top four in the Championship changing and has backed Leeds United and Leicester City for automatic promotion.
Goodman was speaking live on Sky Sports News Tuesday 14 November [10:48], where he was giving his thoughts on the state of the Championship following the recent weekend action.
Leicester and Ipswich Town remain well clear of the chasing pack as they both sit on 39 points from their opening 16 matches.
Leeds have closed down that gap to eight in recent weeks following a period of six wins in seven matches, while Southampton are just a point further back in fourth thanks to an excellent run of form themselves.
It is looking the like the most relentless promotion race in several years with all four sides at the top capable of stringing together incredible runs of form.
Goodman backs Leeds and Leicester for top two
Despite Ipswich’s incredible start, though, Goodman has backed Leeds to join Leicester in the top two at the end of the season, just ahead of Ipswich and Southampton.
“I look at the top four and I don’t see that changing. I’m not saying in what order, but I’d be very surprised if Leeds United and Leicester City aren’t the top two.
“That’s not to say Ipswich or Southampton don’t have the capability of chasing them down – they do.”

Goodman is not the first pundit to back Leeds for promotion with Chris Sutton having suggested last month that the decision to appoint Daniel Farke would be what gets them there.
Farke is really starting to implement his philosophy onto his Leeds squad and with the players he has at his disposal, there aren’t many better sides on their day.
That said, Leeds are still relying on Ipswich to start dropping points, which at the moment they aren’t doing too regularly, having lost just once all season.
