Glen Kamara has hailed Leeds United teammate Georginio Rutter as ‘fantastic’ and believes his first goal at Elland Road was fully deserved.

Rutter finally found the back of the net on home soil for Leeds against Swansea City on Wednesday night, with his goal on the stroke of half-time key to the 3-1 victory.

The 21-year-old left pundits Tom Cairney and Paul Merson blown away by his first touch in the lead up to his goal, with both likening him to Dennis Bergkamp.

And speaking to LUTV ahead of today’s game with Middlesbrough, Kamara says Rutter has been working very hard for that moment.

His creativity and dribbling has been key to Leeds’ brilliant attack so far this season, and so for him to finally break his duck at Elland Road was a big moment.

Rutter goal a great moment for everyone at Leeds

Kamara believes that Rutter is a ‘fantastic player’ to have alongside him at this level and was delighted to see him score for the first time at home.

“In his own way, but yeah he’s a fantastic player. Great touch for the goal and he has been working really hard, he’s been assisting a lot of people and I am delighted for him.”

The only real criticism of Rutter this season has been his lack of clinical edge in front of goal and so to see him finish with such confidence is promising to see.

According to Ben Parker, Rutter was repeatedly making that run in behind before Ethan Ampadu eventually located him shortly before half time, which shows the development in his game.

As Kamara said, Rutter has been providing plenty of assists this season by dropping deep, but running in behind to try and score himself is proper number nine play.
