Daniel Farke has given his reaction to Leeds United’s frustrating 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town.
Despite playing against 10 men for over 45 minutes, Leeds were unable to make it 10 league wins in a row as the home side did well to thwart much of the attacking threat.
Michal Helik had given the home side the lead just before Jonathan Hogg’s red card, with Patrick Bamford equalising in the 67th minute to set up a potentially big finish, that did not arrive.
Leeds will be left frustrated at how little they were able to create in the second half but it was a chance inside the opening five minutes that actually could’ve proved crucial to the scoreline in the end.
This was actually the only time Leeds were able to carve the Huddersfield defence apart all game, and somehow neither Glen Kamara or Crysencio Summerville were able to score, a moment Daniel Farke has bemoaned in his post-match press conference.
Farke rues missed first half chance
He said: “Disappointing in the way we have to accept we do not have a 10 wins in a row, just wanted to win this game. Missed chances in the opening few minutes. 28 points from 30. Pretty ambitious. If you say this is disappointing it shows our ambition.
“Summerville and Kamara have to make it 1-0 with that big early chance. Huddersfield fought with the knife between the teeth. Ball never in play in the first half. Just 18 minutes in play makes it hard to create chances. Slow in the head in the first half.”

One of the biggest reasons for Leeds’ turn in away form in 2024 has been scoring that early goal against defences who would be happy to sit deep. Cardiff City, Plymouth Argyle and to a lesser extent Swansea City spring to mind.
Unfortunately Leeds were unable to capitalise on that opportunity in the first half today and ultimately it has proved somewhat costly in the end, but at the end of the day, the winning run had to come to an end at some point.
Leeds’ players are said to have taken today’s draw like a defeat but they now must get up and go again for another busy week.
