Kieffer Moore has been linked with a move to Leeds United this month as Daniel Farke looks set to bring in a few additions – but Carlton Palmer believes he should join one of our Championship rivals.
Moore, 31, could be about to leave Bournemouth after two years at the club – scoring 10 goals in just 44 outings for the Cherries. The striker is struggling for game time with Dominic Solanke in incredible form.
Leeds are said to be among the clubs interested in the Wales star, and are aware he could be available. A player that has scored 12 international goals for Wales – of which, our Dan James has assisted half.
Reports say Sunderland are leading the race for the £40k-a-week man, who scored in Bournemouth’s FA Cup win over QPR last time out. Andoni Iraola is said to want to keep Moore, but he will want to go.
Now, former Leeds midfielder Palmer has commented on the interest in the striker – and claims that he would be a top signing for Sunderland. He says he could replace the loss of Ross Stewart on Wearside.
“Sunderland need goals. Given Moore’s age, this would likely be a loan move. He’s similar in stature to Ross Stewart who left. Tall, mobile, good in both boxes, the supporters would take to him immediately.
“Sunderland currently sit sixth place in the Championship and the signing of Moore to add that extra firepower could see them secure a play-off place for a second season running,” Palmer told FLW.

Moore is a brilliant striker at Championship level. Throughout his career, he has played 155 times in the second tier, scoring 47 goals and laying on 14 assists. That is despite only starting 113 of those games.
He is a superb option, if he can be tempted with a move to Leeds. The Whites might be tempted given he would add to a growing Wales contingent at Elland Road. James, Joe Rodon, and Ethan Ampadu.
But Moore will wan to be first choice if he does leave Bournemouth and the won’t be that at Leeds, with Patrick Bamford returning to form, Joel Piroe and Georgie Rutter. Sunderland would be his best move.
