Leeds United are supposedly one of a number of clubs looking at a deal for Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore this month – but Sunderland are winning the race to land the Welshman’s signature.
Moore, 31, has struggled for game time at The Vitality Stadium this season – following the appointment of Andoni Iraola as manager. The Spaniard of course, was linked with Leeds before Javi Gracia joined.
However, Moore was handed his second start of the season on the weekend, scoring in a 3-2 win over Championship side QPR in The FA Cup. Iraola, though, says Moore could leave if he wants to in January.
Reports last week said Moore was a target for Leeds – but a number of other Championship sides also wanted the £40k-a-week star. A player that has had a hand in 61 goals in 155 Championship games.
A player that has scored 12 international goals for his country, with Dan James assisting half. A player that Joe Rodon has said he hates defending against in training. Now, an update on Moore’s future.
Sunderland winning race to sign Leeds target Kieffer Moore
Indeed, The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Sunderland and Michael Beale are leading the charge to sign Moore before the end of January – ahead of the likes of Daniel Farke’s side and more second-tier clubs.
The report states that actually, Bournemouth would be open to a sale if the price is right. With Euro 2024 incoming, Moore is hoping to play more often than he has done during the first half of the season.
Leeds have options in the final third, but there is no doubting that Moore is a different kind of player to any other that currently resides in the Leeds squad. Patrick Bamford’s return to form may stifle a move.
