Leeds United now have just eight days to complete any remaining transfer business this month.
The Whites are still yet to make their first foray into the market, despite by Daniel Farke’s own admission, that they have a few positions that could do with strengthening.
The biggest focus for Leeds this month is undoubtedly at the back. Both full-back positions require additions, though central defence is also something they could look at, with Charlie Cresswell expected to leave, and Pascal Struijk still out injured.
One centre-back Leeds are said to be looking at is Everton’s Ben Godfrey, who is very familiar with Farke having worked together at Norwich City earlier in his career.
However, according to Team Talk, another Premier League side in Fulham have joined the race for the ‘outstanding’ Godfrey as a potential contingency plan.
Fulham target Godfrey move
Fulham’s primary centre-back target this month is said to be Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, however the two clubs are yet to come to any sort of agreement regarding the structure of a transfer.
Chelsea would like to sell Chalobah outright as he would represent pure profit on their books having come through the academy. Fulham, though, want an initial loan deal, with an option-to-buy.
If this cannot be agreed, Fulham could potentially switch their attention towards Godfrey, which would be a blow to Leeds’ hopes of signing him. Marco Silva’s side are currently sitting comfortably in the Premier League and are unlikely to be relegated this season.
Leeds, Sheffield United and AC Milan had been the only sides linked with the 26-year-old earlier this week, though it would appear there has been nothing concrete yet.
Godfrey has struggled for game time at Everton this season and so it will be interesting if he pushes for a move before the end of the window.
