European club now think they are going to sign 27-year-old from Leeds permanently next year

Eintracht Frankfurt ‘internally assume’ that Leeds United loanee Robin Koch will sign on a permanent deal next summer.

That is according to Bild, who report that Frankfurt are confident of keeping Koch on a full-time basis once his initial season-long-loan deal is finished with Leeds.

Koch was one of eight senior members of last season’s first team squad to depart Elland Road in the summer following Leeds‘ relegation from the Premier League.

So far, he is among those who have enjoyed some success in the months that have followed his Leeds departure, with Frankfurt director Markus Krosche having hailed him as a big reason behind their defensive improvement.

Koch’s future at Leeds is almost certainly over with his contract at Elland Road expiring in the summer, but that is where the element of doubt comes from regarding his Frankfurt future.

Frankfurt ‘internally assume’ Koch will sign permanently

Krosche has already spoken publicly about Frankfurt’s confidence of signing Koch permanently, but is now also assumed internally that it will be the case.

As per Bild, Frankfurt paid Leeds a loan fee of £420,000 (€500,000) to sign Koch in the summer, while also covering the entirety of his wages.

Not every loan deal involving the aforementioned eight players included a loan fee and so you would imagine that will go some way to ensuring they are in a strong position to sign him permanently.

However, due to his contract situation at Leeds, Koch is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with European clubs from January 1.

Given his form and happiness since joining Frankfurt, though, it would be a strange decision if he did not decide to move there on a permanent basis.
