Leeds United’s goalscoring hero Dominic Calvert-Lewin has insisted his focus remains entirely on helping the team as he continued his incredible run of form.
Former Leeds hero Michael Bridges hailed Leeds’ equaliser against Sunderland as “magic” as they ended 2025 on a five-game unbeaten run.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin found himself in the right place at the right time to finish off a flowing move from Leeds as he extended his goalscoring run to six games.
With Thomas Tuchel understood to be monitoring Calvert-Lewin’s performance, the Leeds number nine further boosted his hopes of making the England squad with another goal.
Now, the form striker in the Premier League has admitted he feels “lethal” in front of goal after taking his goal tally to eight for the season.
Who was your MOTM for Leeds against Sunderland? 🤔
Some excellent performances again.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin on his prolific Leeds United form
Speaking to Sky Sports immediately after the game against Sunderland, Calvert-Lewin was asked how it felt to become the first Leeds player in 65 years to score in six consecutive top-flight games.
According to Calvert-Lewin, his only goal is to help support his team in their hunt for Premier League survival after they picked up another precious point.
Calvert-Lewin said: “It’s just nice, everything feels quite fluid at the moment, I’m getting in the right areas and people are finding me.
“I think it’s taken a little bit of time for maybe players around me to learn my game and what I’m good at. But I like to think when I get service, and the ball comes to me, I’m lethal in the box.”

He added: “It’s nice, obviously, to achieve those things on a personal level, but for me, I think the more pleasing thing is the performances we’ve been putting in as a team and the results that we’ve been getting.
“I think the first half we were slow to get out of the blocks, and we could have done more, and we made it hard for ourselves, but in the second half we were much, much better, so that makes me more proud.”

Leeds United hero closing in on Jamie Vardy run
By taking his current goalscoring run to six consecutive games, Calvert-Lewin took another step toward pulling level with a record set by Jamie Vardy.
Calvert-Lewin’s six-goal streak is the longest scoring run by an English striker since Vardy found the net in eight consecutive games for Leicester City in 2018, according to Opta.
Surely Thomas Tuchel has got to give Dominic Calvert-Lewin a chance in March? 🔥
The Leeds man is closing in on a Jamie Vardy record
It also means that Calvert-Lewin passed the halfway mark in the longest-ever Premier League goalscoring streak, which Vardy also set in November 2015.
The England hopeful has some way to go before he can dream of matching that record. However, if he can match Jamie Vardy’s 2018 mark of eight consecutive goals, it will surely be impossible for Tuchel to ignore his hopes of returning to the international scene.
