Former Leeds United striker Michael Bridges described one passage of play from Daniel Farke’s side as “magic” in their Premier League encounter with Sunderland.
An early injury to Joe Rodon disrupted Leeds’ flow in the first half, as they fell behind to their fellow newly-promoted side.
However, Leeds grew into the game and came roaring back at the beginning of the second half as Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his brilliant goalscoring run.
Although Calvert-Lewin put the ball in the net, he had a flowing team move to thank for his goal, as every Leeds player touched the ball in the build-up to the goal.
According to Michael Bridges, the goal was a contender for the goal of the season prize in the Premier League so far, as Leeds overturned their early deficit.

Michael Bridges praises Leeds United ‘goal of the season’ contender
Speaking on the Sky Sports coverage of the game, former Leeds and Sunderland man Bridges was effusive in his praise of Leeds’ equaliser.
According to Bridges, Leeds’ build-up play was “magic” as they worked the ball out of defence and into the Sunderland goal.
Bridges said: “That’s a magic goal from Leeds United, that’s all the way back from the goalkeeper, soon enough the high press, and the way Leeds United play through the press here, they switch the play from one side of the field to the other, Stach with a lovely ball
“He basically says to Aaronson now, can you get yourself in a one-on-one situation? And Dominic Calvert-Lewin makes such a good, intelligent run in front of Alderete.

“He comes from his blind side in front of him, and all he’s got to do is generate the pace that Aaronson puts on the ball and direct it goalwards.
“And that is one of the goals of the season from back to front, and Leeds United have found their main man, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who gets on the scoresheet for a sixth time in succession.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin takes another step towards history
With his goal against Sunderland, Calvert-Lewin set a new personal best by scoring in six consecutive Premier League games for the first time in his career.
In the process, he equalled a 65-year best for Leeds United, becoming the first player to score in six consecutive top-flight games since John McCole in the 1959/60 season.
Agree or disagree – Joe Rodon is the last player Leeds United could afford to lose to injury 🤕
The centre back limped off midway through the first half against Sunderland
According to the Sky Sports coverage of the game, only three players have surpassed Calvert-Lewin in Leeds history, achieving longer scoring runs.
All three of those happened almost a century ago, with Billy Furness setting the longest-ever goalscoring run for the club by scoring in eight consecutive games between October and December 1931.
