Leeds United’s goalscoring hero Dominic Calvert-Lewin could match a 65-year-old club record when he takes to the field against Sunderland in the Premier League.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalled his own personal best goalscoring run in Leeds’ win over Crystal Palace, as he scored in his fifth consecutive game.
Goals had been a problem for Leeds in the Premier League until their game against Manchester City; however, Calvert-Lewin’s impressive form has inspired the rest of the Leeds squad.
With the Leeds man in red-hot form, Calvert-Lewin has been backed for an England call-up with the World Cup on the horizon.
If he can find the net in Leeds’ next game, he would match a record in the 1959/60 season in the process.
Answer this: Leeds United will finish in ___th place if Dominic Calvert-Lewin stays fit 📊
Six goals in five for the big man!
Dominic Calvert-Lewin chasing down 1959/60 Leeds United record
Heading into Leeds’ game against Sunderland, Calvert-Lewin is currently enjoying a joint career-best run of form.
The England hopeful has only ever scored in five consecutive games once in his career, at the beginning of the 2020/21 season during his time at Everton.
Not only would a goal in a sixth consecutive game be a personal best for Calvert-Lewin, but it would also equal a long-standing club record.
According to the BBC, no Leeds player has scored in six consecutive top-flight games since the 1959/60 season, when John McCole found the net against Chelsea in a 3-1 victory, the final game in a run which saw him score nine goals in six games.
In a concerning omen for Leeds, the Whites were relegated that year, despite McCole’s 22 goals. Daniel Farke will be hoping history does not repeat itself this season.

Anton Stach’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin prediction could now come true
Speaking in September, Leeds midfielder Anton Stach backed Calvert-Lewin to force his way back into England contention following his move to Elland Road.
Three months later, Stach’s prediction does not look so outlandish, as the former Everton man is the form striker in the Premier League.
England need Dominic Calvert-Lewin more than they need Ollie Watkins – surely? 🦁🦁🦁
Who are you taking and why?
Stach joined Calvert-Lewin on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace. Speaking to TalkSport after the game, Stach echoed his view, comparing Calvert-Lewin to Harry Kane, stating: “It’s not my decision, but I would pick him, of course.
“I watch Harry Kane in the Bundesliga, but not all the time. I’ve seen Dom more often in the last few weeks in training. He’s a really good striker, and he’s doing well. I hope he keeps going like this because he’s very important to the team.”
