David Prutton says it is clear to see how much Georginio Rutter is ‘loving life’ at Leeds United after speaking to him last month.
Prutton interviewed Rutter alongside Joel Piroe in the week leading up to Leeds’ 1-1 draw at Rotherham United following the November international break.
Rutter’s struggles in the months immediately after moving to Elland Road from Hoffenheim in January were well documented, but he has more than turned it around this season.
And speaking to Sky Sports News this morning, Prutton believes the massive transfer fee Leeds paid for him is no longer weighing heavily on his shoulders.
Rutter has four goals and seven assists so far this season, with his creativity in particular standing out, having comfortably created the most chances big chances in the Championship.
Rutter has become unplayable at Leeds
Prutton is also of the opinion that Piroe’s goalscoring has helped ease the pressure on Rutter being Leeds’ starting striker, which has helped to bring the best out of him.
“I spoke to Georgi the other week and he was talking about the different pressure that comes with being a centre-forward with Leeds United.
“He’s got the best part of £30million hanging around his neck in terms of the transfer fee. He looks to be loving life at Elland Road. [Joel] Piroe has been a massive part in that.”
Rutter is part of a front four at Leeds that has been labelled as ‘unplayable’ at this level by Michael Dawson, with his contribution arguably the most important.
It is clear to see just how much Rutter is loved by everyone at the club, with Glen Kamara speaking about how happy he was for the 21-year-old to break his Elland Road duck last week.
Hopefully he can continue to produce the performances he has so far for the rest of the season and fire Leeds to promotion back to the Premier League.
