Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth is astounded at the chance creation numbers Georginio Rutter has produced for Leeds United this season.
Smyth was speaking on the latest episode of the Inside Elland Road Podcast, where he took a deep dive into some of Rutter’s attacking statistics in the opening 11 matches.
Having struggled in his first few months as a Leeds player, Rutter has really found his form under Daniel Farke and has been one of the Whites’ top performers.

Rutter has been handed the freedom of playing every week as a number nine, with his confidence clearly growing week-by-week, regardless of any chances he may miss.
The 21-year-old has so far scored two goals and provided three assists, though both statistics could already be a whole lot higher if he and his teammates were more clinical.
Smyth astounded by Rutter chance creation numbers
Reflecting on how Rutter has performed so far this season, Smyth compared his ‘big chances created’ numbers to that of the promotion winning team, and was astounded at what he found.
He said: “I took a look at his big chances created because it stood out that he has created more big chances in the top four tiers than anyone else. He’s got 10. I thought that was pretty remarkable at this stage and then I looked back at what Leeds’ general numbers were in the promotion season for individuals creating big chances.
“I noticed that Jack Harrison had led the team with 17. Rutter already on 10 suggests he is a relentless chance creation machine. The chances he is creating are of a real good quality, like the one he laid on for Summerville at the back post, which was great. He played Piroe in, should’ve scored first half.
“He’s putting teammates in really good positions, but it’s the manner he’s doing it as well. Like his assist for Summerville against QPR, he slots it perfectly into his path, dissecting defensive lines. That’s the thing we’ve been banging on about since Hernandez left.”
Rutter looking a cut above every week

For many Leeds supporters, it is currently a joy to watch Rutter playing as he is week after week at this level.
On the ball, the Frenchman is clearly a cut above those he is coming up against, and that is being reflected in both his dribbling, and creativity.
If Rutter was to become a tad more clinical himself, his age means that his potential knows no bounds at this stage of his career.
