Leeds star Archie Gray picked up a knee injury on Wednesday in injury time against Norwich City and was forced off moments before the full-time whistle – and Daniel Farke has given an update.

Gray, 17, was voted man of the match once again for his stunning display on the right – despite a few players impressing. Joe Rodon, Ilia Gruev and Patrick Bamford starred during the 1-0 win over Norwich.

But it was a blow to see Gray leave the field of play on 94 minutes. Speaking immediately after full-time, Farke said that Gray was concerned but that he was “carefully optimistic” about the injury picked up.

Then, Phil Hay reported on Friday that Gray was actually worried he had sustained damage to his ACL. But, that it was not that – and that while he would be missing on Saturday, it was not a long-term issue.

Now, Farke has given a further update on Friday in the latest press conference ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Plymouth. He says that he expects teenager Gray to return next week at some point.

“Archie Gray is out for this game. Nothing with the ligament, nothing with the ACL – just a hit, a bruise. But not possible to join us, he will return at some point next week,” Farke said as per the club’s YouTube.

Gray has been superb for Leeds but he needed a rest. While an injury might not have been ideal, it is almost good timing – if he was to get one. The chances are, Farke might have rested him this weekend.

The same with Dan James, who also has an injury. It is expected that Gray will now be out until next week, miss the game against Plymouth on the weekend – but is fit next week, but face Bristol City.
