Leeds United are doing so well at the moment that you forget they are missing one of their best players.

Daniel Farke’s side are third in the Championship table. Leeds are only two points behind Sunderland and Sheffield United, who are first and second respectively.

Leeds have won four of their last six Championship matches. The Whites have conceded nine goals in 15 league games this season.

Darke Farke’s positive Ethan Ampadu injury update for Leeds fans

You wonder how much better Leeds would have fared had Farke been able to call upon Ethan Ampadu over the past few weeks.

Ampadu suffered a knee injury in September and has been on the sidelines since. The 24-year-old played seven times in the Championship this season.

Farke has given a positive update on the injury situation of Ampadu. The Leeds manager has said that the midfielder is in the final stages of his recovery.

Farke said about Ampadu on Leeds Live: “Final stages of rehab. Won’t train next week with the team. Maybe after that he can hopefully join us and be a big boost.”

Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka have stepped up in Ethan Ampadu’s absence

Ampadu played in midfield this season before he suffered his long-term injury. The Leeds star is also able to play in defence.

When Ampadu is back to full fitness and is ready to play in competitive games, it is not going to be easy for him to get into the team.

That is because the partnership between Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka has been exceptional.

Rothwell and Tanaka are the two holding midfielders for Leeds. They are very reliable and the Whites look very solid in the middle of the park with them in the team.

As per Sofascore, Tanaka has won 78% of his headers, 54% of his ground duels, and has made 5.2 ball recoveries per game on average this season.

As for Jothwell, he has won 50% of his duels, made 2.3 ball recoveries per game on average, and has 90% pass accuracy.
