Ethan Ampadu was initially expected to be sidelined until the new year with his knee injury, but Daniel Farke might be able to call on the Wales star sooner rather than later.
The Leeds skipper picked up the injury during the latter stages of the first half in the win over Coventry. It has since seen the Wales captain out of action, missing the next eight Championship fixtures for Leeds.
Ampadu played every minute for Leeds in the Championship last season but already this time around, he has missed more than he has played. But Daniel Farke recently gave a new update, and it was good news.

Leeds’ Ethan Ampadu comments on injury and it is good news
Farke said that Ampadu could return earlier than expected, with Ampadu believed to be out until 2025 to begin with. Now, Ampadu has been talking about his injury and it seems there is a good feeling about it.
As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Leeds skipper discussed the injury that has finally stopped the versatile ace from being a regular name in the starting XI. Ampadu says it is looking and feeling good.
“It’s going well. It can have its ups and downs. There’s a bit of healing left to be done. I’m quite positive about it. The sooner for me personally the better but obviously when it’s right,” Ampadu said.

When Ethan Ampadu is back, who will start in Leeds’ midfield?
There is no way that Ampadu does not start when fully fit. The Wales star is the beating, defensive heart of this Leeds side – but it does leave Leeds with a dilemma in the middle of the park, who partners him?
Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka have been superb in midfield, so much so that Stuart Dallas says playmaker Rothwell will give Farke a headache. Gruev is expected to be sidelined until late December, like Ampadu.
But if Farke is asked for his best two midfielders at the moment, surely he will pick Ampadu and Tanaka, and allow the Japan star a bit more freedom to get forward and play like he did while at Dusseldorf.
