The belief was that Dan James would be available for Saturday’s clash against Rotherham United at Elland Road but Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has now confirmed he will be missing this weekend.
The 26-year-old picked up an injury in the 1-0 win over Norwich last month – which saw him subbed off at half-time and replaced by Jaidon Anthony. Willy Gnonto has since returned, scoring two goals in two.
It is more than likely that Gnonto will now retain his starting space. Wales star James was expected to be available for this clash, with Farke previously saying that the winger was aiming to be fit for Saturday.
Speaking on Friday afternoon in an impassioned press conference in which Farke also gave his verdict on Luis Sinisterra after his permanent move to Bournemouth – Farke said James isn’t available tomorrow.
“Much improved,” Farke told the club’s official YouTube channel when asked about the Leeds winger on Friday. “He is not far away from a return to team training but he will definitely miss out for this game.”

James being missing is of course, a blow. A player that has produced our second-most goals and assists this season, with 17. But, it is not as if Leeds are struggling for options out wide. Gnonto starts.
The Italy star has two goals in two games and it does look as if the winger is back to his best right now. A winner against Bristol City, a gorgeous finish at Plymouth. Hopefully, that run of goals continues.
It is likely Cree Summerville will continue on the other side with Jaidon Anthony on the bench. Fingers crossed, Leeds can remain unbeaten and pick up an eighth win in nine since the turn of the year.
